In November 2015, Taryn and Kristin found themselves in the same 200-hour teacher training program. We were both on a path to find a way to nourish our own souls while also being able to better provide for our families. A bond quickly formed, and it was obvious we were meant to share our love of Yoga with others. We celebrated this bond and our shared ambition with the creation of Iris Mind + Body.
We believe in making Yoga accessible to everyone. So many friends and family members have told us of their fears about walking into a studio knowing nothing, their worries that there are "too many rules" or they "aren't good enough" or they "don't know the etiquette." We are here to prove that none of that matters: Yoga is fun, transformative, and personal. It's OK to be a beginner. It's OK to be 10 years into your practice and have no interest in a handstand. It's OK to want a challenge every time you unroll your mat.
There are a multitude of reasons people turn to Yoga. But whatever the why, we know that Yoga is what YOU want to make of it. There's no one-size-fits-all practice, goal, or approach to Yoga, and we'll never tell you Yogis can't enjoy a glass of wine or a good steak. But we will always tell you that everyone deserves Yoga, and one of the greatest passions and purposes of our lives is bringing Yoga to everyone we can reach. If you have a body, you have a Yoga body. Our idea of a Yogi is anyone with a mindset to try - whether you're a toddler or a senior, have a 6-pack or are 9 months pregnant, we have a class for you.
